I've only gotten to run 1 C63 AMG. I put bus lengths on him and his was modded. Later he told me that he hadn't had a final tune yet though...sooo......

None taken, but I don't think either is true. I don't see how he should have walked me. Maybe he should have beat me, but at these speeds nobody can determine exactly what should have happen. I would say it was pretty much an even race, and with my minor mods, it makes sense. If we were at a 1/4 drag strip, I am certain that he would destroy me, but rolling at 60mph is an entirely different story.



I don't know if that's entirely true, but our cars are monsters at higher speeds. I am still not able to find what is so unbelievable about this race. Is it surprising? Yes. Is it impossible? Hell no.

Firstly, If you cannot tell the difference between an engines sound at WOT and an engines sound at "just staying ahead of me", then I cannot take your "professional" opinion too seriously.

This wasn't our first attempted run. He got up next to me for 10 minutes prior to this run constantly revving and racing past me to show off his car. The opportunity to race never really came up. We would try for one gear and shut off because of approaching traffic. Your telling me that this guy who had so much to prove is going to "just stay ahead of me" and end the race in a tie rather than whoop me if he has the capability? I am not going to debate whether he was stock or modded, because I too believe he just had a resonator or muffler delete. Again, this was a surprising outcome, but not an unbelievable one.

Not sure how I was supposed to get so much information from a 20 second video, but whatever.

If you didn't know C63s are loud, how do you know what their WOT sounds like? There is a difference in volume of exhaust after 3000rpm in AMG mufflers.

If he was acting like that then it was very likely a badge tuned 500 or 550, not a real AMG. Stock C63s trap around 117.

That was a C63 for sure.

They don't offer V8s in C class unless you step it up to AMG. So it had to be either a C350/C300/C250 or a C63 and the sound says V8. Also a C350 doesn't compete with V8 cars.. its only 300hp.

Youre forgetting the CLK/S series, which had 500 and 550 and were v8s.

My friend, C is not same as CLK. And even further from SLK.

I understand C and CLK shared platform. But C =/= CLK.

C Class is not equivalent to CLK.

Just like G class is not equivalent to GL or GLK

And S Class is not equivalent to SLK / SL / SLR / SLS.

Just saying, that the car in OPs video had to be a V8 (c63). because it was a C Class.

In my 210 a GTO race can go either way depending on mods, with my 211, GTOs are a waste of gas. The 212s..no chance for a stockish GTO and these cars are 300-400 pounds heavier than a C. I've spent enough time on the MB forums to believe that most people with real AMGs know what they have and don't drive like asshats on the street. They also typically have M3\5s to beat on, track, or race and garage queen the AMG. So, I'll continue to disagree and leave it at that, no need to go in circles over something that doesn't matter.

If anyone is interested, Google AMG poser thread and you will see there's probably more fakes than real ones.

If I raced an SL63 AMG and posted same results, I would understand people calling BS. But a C63 AMG is hardly out of my league... It should win, but is not out of the ordinary for a GTO to hang with one, especially considering how many variables can play a role in the outcome of the race at these speeds.

Good run, yes that car would beat you normally. I am guessing maybe he hit a little bit of a bad spot for his auto or was a little slow punching it. I dont know about those C class AMGs very much but I know my E55 bone stock was running as fast as my Maggie 112 GTO which ran 11.8s with bad 60 foots. As others have said they pull like a freight train on the hwy. I wont even talk about once they are modded :jawdrop:
