first off let me say, ive gone through the L92/LS3 sticky thread several times on this board and LS1tech, have been doing my "homework" on and have talked to several vendors on here about what my avenues are.
the purpose of this thread is strictly for the opinions of my fellow board members as i am completely split between my options for the LS3 top-end that i am putting together. i realize that fly-cutting WILL be required for the cams i listed.
let me start off with my goals:
-to have an extremely DD friendly car with 450+ whp through a 3200 stall
-a cammed car with a power band of roughly 3000 RPM to 6700RPM
-good, usable torque under the curve but a strong performer all the way to the redline.
-this is primarily a street car dealing with LA traffic, the track may/will be visited but VERY rarely
now, to fit these goals of mine i have narrowed down my options to three cams i feel would fit very well(i would like to know your opinions on my selections and which you would do)--
A) CSP's NSSP cam -- (230/232 .612 .602 114LSA)
- i have spoken to Andrew and Andy extensively about this cam and my goals. it would be a good fit, but it is still relatively new on the board. i have been following it since it first popped up and have always considered it as a top option.
B) Tigershark/MAX AIR-16 -- (232/236 .6xx .6xx 113LSA)
- i have done a lot of digging on this cam and i really like all that i have read about it, i feel that this cam too would be an excellent fit to my goals and would be very streetable. this cam has had great success paired to milled L92 heads on a members car and considering how similar our mods are, i feel it would be a representation of how my car would perform as well.
C) Custom grind --
- i am currently in talk with Ed Curtis a FTI about my build, i am currently awaiting a reply from him to hear his suggestion.
again, i am only trying to get some opinions on if these cams would help me reach my goals. i DO NOT wish to start a grudge match in this thread, all the vendors i have spoken to have been a tremendous help.
P.S. the cam will be paired to CNC'd LS3 heads(.020 milled with a valve-job) and a ported LS3 intake manifold/TB
