The rubber trim around the rear quarters looks like shit. The plastic rails on the roof aren't looking too great either. I found some posts online from others who have applied it to rubber trim and all the pictures looked good, but I really couldn't find any info on the longevity of the coating.

Has anyone on here done this? Can rubber protectants like 303 or Adam's VRT be applied to it to keep the shine?

I have seen it on wheels and it looks pretty good. We have a G8 in the club that did it on his rims.

Use bedliner. They have spray paint can's of it at the Auto Parts store. I used it on all my black plastic coating on my last vehicle. It's slightly grainy, and holds up to a lot of abuse. I used it on my window trim (last vehicle) and bottom windshield molding, and it looked factory. When I sold the truck, they guy's first comment was how I kept all the black plastic looking like new.......I need to do this to all my black trim as well.

Doesn't that stuff go on kind of thick?

I just repaired mine last week. I didn't use plasti dip,
I used Kent Automotive Euro Black ( trim & bumper )
it matched the other window trim really well. so far I'm happy with the way it turned out.
worst case I guess I'll be in the market for a set of rear 1/4 window trim.
Interesting. How's it holdig up? BTW, you can't simply replace the trim, you need the entire quarter window assembly which costs $700+ :bomb:

So far so good but like I said it's only been a week.
If it doesn't hold up over time then I'll just have to try to call in a favor from a friend & hope he can get them for less than 700.

I took a couple pics. hasn't been washed in a few days but you get the idea.
Color matches great

wetsand
trim paint or back to black

Spend $14 to do it right, rather than $6 on a can of shit that will peel off.

I swear the amount of cheap people on this forum amazes me.

I had the same problem with mine fading really bad. I found a totaled GTO with 11k on it that had the quarter windows and seals. I bought them and swapped them out, only bad part was someone urethane the driver side window in. I had to call a glass guy to get it out.

I did it on my wheels about a year ago as a way to hold off until I bought new wheels and it still is perfect.

Held up through winter and a whole bunch of washes with no marks or anything so I would say go for it.

Worse case scenario you peel it off, not like you wasted a bunch of money

Is it a cheap fix, yes but as a temporary thing or just to give you an idea of how something would look the stuff is perfect.

Note- if you want it to look/feel more like it's actually paint just lay it on thicker and you can actually wet sand it with 2000 grit to make it smooth. Just make sure to do steady pressure and don't overdo it and you'll be fine.
