I pulled the plug and it matched the others. I went ahead and threw a plug and wire i pulled off of the car (stockers) to try to eliminate that possibility. Obviously they should be fine since it ran good before? Car only has 60k so i wouldn't think anything major would be wrong.

 

So you put the stocker back on and you still have a misfire?

What codes are you getting?

Need to be a little bit more specific.

 

Ya thats what doesn't make sense. Autozone just tells me it's a multiple cylinder misfire but can't tell me which cylinder. I plan to use a friend's tech 2 wednesday to try to follow the misfire as I swap pieces around. I thought I had eliminated all possibilities but i guess not.

 

I would start by doing the following:
Swap coil 1 & coil 2, see if problem follows.
Swap plug wire 1 & 2, see if problem follows.
Swap Plug 1 & 2see if problem follows.

 

I have swapped around a bunch of different things like you said. Still problem is there. I have even resorted to putting some stockers (plugs and wires) on cylinders 1 and 2. no luck yet.

 

you need to KNOW what cylinder is misfiring in order to diag that.

if its a multiple cylinder misfire its most likely a P0300.

ultimately you are over looking something you caused.

either you cooked more then one coil, or damaged one or more wire or plug.

 

You need to get a better way to read the codes more regularly, if your getting the o2 codes then the CEL is going to be on regardless of whether your misfire is fixed or not. Get the o2 codes blocked and then see what's going on.

 

Even the autozone scanners will tell you the error code #. Post that in here

 

Thanks to all of you for your input! I plan to take the car to my buddy's shop tomorrow after my finals to trace this som b**** down so I will definately post an update as soon as it is or isn't figured out.

If I could remember the code from the autozone scanner I would share but unfortunately I can't.

I have been partially ignoring the engine light due to the fact that I know the o2s aren't happy. It just worries me when the CEL starts blinking (which is a misfire).

Besides the typical P0300 misfire code, what other "misfire" codes could pop up and what could be the difference?

 

Problem solved!!! Two of the wires on one of the extensions were flip flopped, causing the entire left bank to misfire at some point.

I did the same thing on my trans am, minus the washing.... because that doesn't sound like a great idea lol.

Go buy a reader for 30 bucks and then swap the coils around and see if the problem chases the coil.
