Hey Everyone,

I am in need of a new timing chain for my LS2. Whats the best one out there? Thanks! :hbang:

Can I recommend a setup? What I am going to do is the JP Performance double roller, along with the SLP oil pump. The SLP oil pump is already modified to work with the JP Performance double roller so there is no modification needed on your end. The SLP Double Roller Timing Chain is the JP Performance Chain. SLP bought the chain, stamped their tag on it, then marked up the price over 50%. The SLP oil pump is modified to fit properly with the double roller and to perform better over the stock pump so the heavy mark up is justified I suppose. I added the links.

Hope this helps

You also have to be aware that the timing cover may need some grinding done to it to clear the double roller timing set.

I replaced my timing chain with another stock LS2 timing chain when I did my cam swap. There is no sense in going double roller unless you plan on making big power and the new set-up is adjustable so you can toy with the camshaft degree.

Certain things I like to overkill on and the timing chain seems like one of the things that people should. Just my opinion.

Thanks for all your help! For this summer, I'd like to have headers, exhaust, torquer V2 112LSA cam package & monster clutch. (see my sig). I like to 'overkill' things as well, which is why I was looking for a double-roller. But if I don't need it, I don't need it.

I installed the SLP dual chain and ported oil pump when I did my cam install. No spacers were required, and no grinding was needed to seat the timing cover into place. I'm certainly no expert, but this is what SLP told me when I called to do my research, and it did go together as advertised when I put my '05 back together. Lastly, watch out for the single bolt holding in the pick-up tube! :)

rollmaster double here from EDC. stock pump with supplied spacers and no mods to the front cover at all. i figured a double was good insurance and i need the adjustability to degree the cam anyway

C5r here too, and the bonus was that I walked into Katech and bought it :). They're pretty helpful guys and if you have questions just call em.

anybody have the JP single roller setup?

GM had some LS6 timing chain break in their racing program testing. They beefed up the LS2 timing chain significantly because of this. The LS2 chain seems to work great, I've read of some breaking but seemed to be an issue with aftermarket dampers.

Because if you don't tie some fishing line around it, it will slip out of your hands and it will fall into the oil pan and you will have a bad time.

I found if your lifter roller breaks off and wedges itself the chain won't matter.
