Disabling P0420 and P0430 SES

I have a predator and would like to disable the SES light when a P0420 or P0430 is thrown. I am OK if it stores the code, just as long as the light doens't come on because of it. I see there is a menu option to disable 420&430 codes, however it is in the COT menu. I was concened that disabling it here might work for me, but could cause additional problems also, because the PCM would no longer be looking at catalyst temps. Is this the right way to go about doing this?

420/430 faults are not set as a result of catalyst temps...they are thrown based on switch rates between upstream and downstream O2 sensors; i.e. catalyst efficiency.

Assuming you have no concern for catalyst efficiency, go ahead and disable these DTCs, they will not affect anything outside of emissions compliance.

Catalyst temps will still be monitored by the ECU/PCM...if temps rise you will be notified via a 0300 level fault (Misfire) and/or blinking CEL (Catalyst-damaging misfire).

Sorry to bring this back form the dead, but when you use predator to turn the codes off, they will still be stored in pcm and it will fail emissions right? so the only way to turn them completly off is through HPtuners?

if you simply "turn them off" - i.e. clear them - they will show back up again...

you need to completely disable the codes altogether in the tune... and depending on what revision predator you have, you may need a custom tune to do it - cuz the newer 9rXX revision predators no longer have any of that emissions related stuff in there for users to disable themselves, due to EPA regulations...

if you still have an older 2.xx revision predator, you can disable them yourself...
