Why hasn't there been more of a push to get a body kit, or fenders like on the GTO-R? The wide stance makes it look so much more menacing, and muscular. At the same time it compliments the lines of the car, and adds to the overall great lines.
Does TRG or Pratt and Miller hand fabricate all the body panels?

ive been wondering the same thing. i e-mailed TRG twice about fenders about 8 months ago or so, and never got a response. ive e-mailed them about other things to and never got any response. never can get the chance to call them though.

As a matter of fact I brought this issue up to the TRG folks at the race on Saturday. All the body panels, except fenders are molded out of Carbon Fiber or Fiberglass right off the original components. The fenders are flared a bit as mentioned above. I asked if they had ever considered liscensing out the fender mold to a company to reproduce for us, and they mentioned they had thought of it a number of times. He mentioned it was on their plate to look into it further as often somebody asks them about it.

As awesome as it would be I wouldn't count on it...for the thousands of dollars it would cost maybe only a handfull of owners would do it. Not a very high sales potential there for such work :(

And yes as Bill said...it's not just some simple tack on bondo-it-up type job, they completely fabricate new fenders.

edit: the name of the company is escaping me right now but there is pics of a black gto without a spoiler with it's rear fenders flared, looks amazing but was very expensive.

Guys, production of this GTO is about done. Everything that's on the market now is about all we're going to get. If anything, some parts will start disapearing within the next year.

Maybe some new small things will be released, like new floor mats, but not something ground breaking like a new body kit.

these are kinda cool but i dont think this is what you guys are referring to.

Those don't really add any width over the stockers, they are lighter (fiberglass) and look different... but not really functional to get a wider wheel.

The wheeltowheel kit is nice but expensive....the spirit of daytona car runs thier front fenders only to gain some room for a wider front tire...it looks alittle funky though if it was a street car....

I thought that they may be fiberglass but did not realize that they were using CF. I asked because I saw that they were selling the Porsche stuff. It looks like the hardest part would be the rear quarter panels.
Just being hopeful with this post. I think the GTO-R's look mean as hell, and driving that on the street would turn some heads!

wish I took more close-up pics...

I assume there is more to it than TRG just stamping out body panels for us since the TRG cars are all tube frame. It's not like they use the same mounting points and such.

edit: WTF? I uploaded the pics in 800x600 and they got auto resized to 400x300... :(

i'm with yall. i lot of the companys invest in making wide body kits for a sunfire and hondas. i think thats stupid. there has to be a company or individual that can reproduce this kit that we want so bad. (why would u need a wide body kit for a sunfire??) haha someone make it please!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (when i get my gto i will be force to spend 5+ grand on a kit from Wheel2wheel)

Full replacment wider fenders front and rear are not gonna be that cheap any way you slice it.... very limited market of only ~40,000 cars in the US, maybe another 10K over all other countries combined...so a pool of 50K total

They made ~60K C6 corvettes last year alone.

Ford made 150K mustangs last year

just to compare numbers.

As a company which car would you make stuff for?

They only made 37,372...but that's still more than all the 2004-2006 GTOs combined :turbonaug

ok so my numbers are off... I didn't actually look them up...

I also rounded up on the GTO numbers as there are sadly a bunch that are in scrap yards already:cry:.... and we still don't have an offical production number for 2006...

just because the car is discontinued doesnt mean they will stop making parts. even thought there int alot of gtos on the road. there are alot of ars out there that there arent many of but still have plenty of aftermarket parts for them and making those fenders wouldnt be that bad to do if some one actually wanted to buy the cf and resins and make some. it would take time but it can be done. i think TRG very well can do it if they wanted to. if they make the fenders for the gto-r then it wont be shit for them to make the for production as they do the other fenders and body parts. its all up to them. it just like all the other companies that have made stuff for the gto.
