Gold blade came in today, so I installed it a short while ago and took it for a short ride.

Didn't do any sort of re-learn procedure, just bolted it on and it idled fine at 1000, then 800 once it started warming up.

I did notice that the throttle percentage readings seem a little off. Started off at about 23% idle I believe, then dropped to 20% idle by the time I started driving, went pedal to the floor at low speed in 4th to see how it would act and it registered a max of 87%, then when I was done, idle was at 18%. I believe with more driving time it will correct itself, but we shall see.

But, bottom line is it seems to work fine. Will probably do some WOT runs later and go from there.

That percentage at idle is usual. Mine sits around 18-19%. Ive got about 2 weeks of driving on mine and its been great. Plenty of WOT runs on mine :D Glad to see it worked out for you.

I (Correctly) ported my gold blade throttle body this weekend. Once you get rid of that ridge at the bottom of the TB you gain a ton of throttle response. Its not overly sensitive, but it is very responsive.

That's good to know then. You might be right in thinking it's mainly Corvettes that have issues with them and it kinda just trickled down into another internet wide bullshit thing.

I believe someone who posted earlier has had one for a while without issue. I think it's possible that we can put this myth to rest now that multiple people have done it.

I'd like to put some more miles on mine just to be sure though. Saved me a hell of a lot of money though.

Also went out today with my tech 2 and verified again that at WOT this throttle body reads 100%. Weird that yours only registered 87%. With the engine off and the intake removed, you can have someone hit the pedal to verify that its opening 100%.

You need to log the ETC % and/or other ETC pids for the correct %. For some reason GM interprets the SAE TPS PID as absolute voltage % (ie. the % of 5V on the TPS sensor, which at WOT is something like 4.39V or 88%).

If you log the ETC or Pedal PIDs then you will see 100%. Most likely this is what the tech 2 is showing.

You will never see 100% tps using the tps pids.

Just to add to this, my ported stocker took a dump at the track this weekend, mid pass to beat all. Got an overnight ls3 unit from advance, bolted it on and good to go. My car in particular feels stronger, probably because of a failing stock unit.

I just found this thread and I had no idea you could use the LS3 TB on the LS2 without a retune. Very good information!

Sure is a nice way to save some money on a TB as the gold blade is MUCH cheaper as stated.

I have 2006 ls2 e40 setup. I have the ls3 gold blade. Wondering if I need a different MAF as I don't have the ls3 card but instead the ls2 maf boot sensor. I have yet to fire the swap. Did everyone/anyone here just use the existing MAF boot sensor from the ls2? thanks all.

Yes Gold blade TB’s work fine.

After reading all of the naysayers posts on this a couple years ago I decided to do some research before I spent double the money on a silver blade TB and all I could find different was the reverse rotation of the blade.
With that said and since they are so abundant compared to the silver blade I went to a local salvage yard and picked a gold blade up for $40 just to see how well they work and it’s been flawless for almost 2 years now.

Actually put one on today to replace my max ported silver blade. Ran great if not better than the stock ported one. Still didn't fix my surging issue though.
