Just wondering if self tapping screws or using regular screws and washers with nuts would be better? Other suggestions? Thanks

I should have provided a hardware kit with your splitter. If you bought it from me and it did not include hardware, PM me your address and I'll get it in the mail tomorrow.

The kit consists of:

  • 1/4-20 bolts that are at least 1" long, Qty. 15
  • Fender washers for a 1/4" bolt, Qty. 30
  • Lock washers for 1/4" bolts, Qty. 15
  • 1/4-20 Hex nuts, Qty. 15

That's just what I provide, any bolt that's close to 1/4" in diameter will work. I would not recommend using any sort of screw to go into the bumper. While it may hold for a while, I don't know how it will last over the long term.

Yep, Spencer's hardware kit worked great for me.

I took the bumper off to make it easier, lined everything up with some 99 cent clamps from home depot and then made alignment marks with some duct tape, then started drilling away :)

The mounting hardware isn't noticeable unless you look from a very extreme angle and even then I don't think it looks bad.

You want washers, nuts, and bolts. Screws may strip out at high speed. Some folks have mentioned the splitter buffeting in the wind at 70MPH+ cruising speeds. However, just a quick wrench turn to tighten the bolts/nuts fixed their problems. With screws, it won't be tight, and will flap around for sure - then it may rip out, and you'll have a busted bumper cover on your hands. Just get the right hardware the first go-round.

Mine's been on the car for 2K-3K miles now. It has seen a few 80MPH+ cruises and sprints, never even got a shudder out of the splitter. Great product, easy-as-pie instructions, and the hardware kit even comes with an extra 1-2 of everything (well, mine did). Spencer's a great guy with great products. Won't hesitate to buy from him again.
