Bumping an old thread because I've been trying to find these "clips" for months to no avail. I had no idea what these were exactly called, but thanks for the link! I searched on gmpartshouse with no luck and the guy at the parts counter at my dealer had no clue what I was looking for. I didn't know you could even put pads in without these.

 

If I take that part number into any GM dealer I should be able to get the parts though correct? I KNEW there had to be a 5.XX dollar solution out there. Thats what I'm missing.

When I bought the calipers used I figured the pads would come with clips or I could get some at the auto parts store....not so much....as the hawks have been wearing down I can hear them rattling around more and more so I need to figure it out soon.

Now did you find that for a corvette or for a GTO?

For the GTO. I just drilled down through the rockauto,com parts tree.

 

Yeah I checked that site out. I really liked it. If I can't grab them locally maybe I'll just go through them.

 

I expect that if you tell the dealer the magic words "front caliper rebuild kit
for 05/06 GTO" then they should be able to find it.

 

Tried that one....thats when they said I had to order the 250 brake pads and they didn't have a caliper kit separate.

 

Kragen's also sells the rebuild kit. Part number 41235.

It came with all three clips and the dust caps.

 

I've ordered from RockAuto before... they are solid.

 

I just found that RockAuto has 05-06 Centric rotors for $75 each! I'll have to get a pair for my conversion.

 

I bought the C5 Z06 pads for my goat, and they came with these parts. What are they used for? We did not use them, and I have had some issues with my pads "squeeling". What's the scoop?

 

They're the metal "sleeves" that the pads are supposed to slide on. You can see them in the below pic:

Not really. They keep the pads from rattling around. What type of pads are those Z06's? Ceramic?

 

Damn..this just pisses me off. I bought Raybestos Quiet Stop Vette pads for my stock 04 calipers specifically because they came with clips. The installer said he couldnt get them to fit my caliper, and of course they move around and squeal now.

They looked just like that.

 

Well... they don't fit on the caliper; they fit on the basket. So the installer may have been right. While the Vette CALIPERS are the same the BASKET is completely different.

 

but the vette pads should have fit in the gto anti-rattle clips.

 

^^^Yep, they did. I checked after the pic that Ski posted.

 

No biggie....the worst part about not having them in is sometimes you can hear them clacking in the caliper. May have a very slight impact on squeeling but I highly doubt it. Hopefully your problems are fixed.

 

Well I have no clips and they squeal like Ned Beatty in Deliverance.

I might take them out and put that sticky goop in there to hold them in place better. Whats that stuff called again?
